These two beakers are from a very early period of St. Petersburg production, when the style still echoed that of Moscow. One beaker, from the period of Peter I "The Great" has cypress-tree repoussage, derived from Persian images well-known in Moscow. These trees would later be used to great effect as a decorative motif in the Kremlin Service, designed by Solntsev. The other, from the ten-year reign of Empress Anna Ioannovna shows the early influence of the Rococo.
Estimate: $6,000 - $8,000.
