The tureen with the Waller family Coat of Arms and motto HIC FRUCTUS VIRTUTIS (This is the reward of integrity).
The mate to the tureen was purchased from Sotheby's, New York on April 16, 1996, lot 296.
Estimate: $20,000 - $30,000.
Condition Report*:
The covered tureen on stand, cover with conforming rim slightly out of round, pin dents and one diagonal dent approximately 0-1/2 inch to sloped edge; the stand with surface scratches most visible to smooth interior border, a split on each side where handle meet the stand's rim, partially obscured by beaded border, base out of round (does not impair functionality), overall, the tureen on stand presents very well, with light wear as expected with age, use, and polishing.
