Gaudefroyite, Andradite Garnets, and Hausmannite

Presented across the front side of this specimen are rich groups of the very rare manganese borate mineral Gaudefroyite. Most of the Gaudefroyite is grouped together in sprays of sharp, lustrous hexagonal crystals (some of which are doubly terminated and reach 0.8 centimeters in length) that are nicely distributed across the front side of the specimen. Just underneath is a thin layer of rust-red Andradite Garnets that stretch across the host rock and outline the Gaudefroyite with a nicely contrasting backdrop. Associations of Hausmannite cover the bottom right corner and backside of the host rock in a semi-lustrous druse. This piece comes with a custom acrylic base.
