Jose Andres Giron is a foundational figure in Arizona's Latino art movement, blending fine art and activism. Drawing from his New Mexican roots and the legacy of the first Hispanic settlers on the Rio Grande, Giron's work celebrates Latino and Chicano culture. He co-founded MARS and ARIZTLAN, key art organizations in Phoenix's cultural history, and collaborated with Cesar Chavez during the civil rights era. His art is featured in the Smithsonian's Latino Art Archives, and he continues to champion Hispanic representation through education, mentorship, and advocacy for Latino arts and culture.
