This fossil with a muddy reddish-brown clay coloration contains the pronounced footprint of an ancient land-dwelling crocodilian known - Batrachopus. Dating back to the Triassic Period, 200 million years ago, this trace fossil was discovered in New Jersey. As an ichnogenus, we only know of the variety from trace fossils such as imprints like this one. The thin slab has a noticeable texture that has preserved the 'mud.'
