Emperor Nicholas II & Empress Alexandra Feodorovna, purchased on June 12, 1900, for 120 rubles.


The offered lot in Imperial yellow guilloché bears comparison to an almost identical bell push in amaranth, currently in the McFerrin collection (Coll. No. 506). It is interesting to note that the McFerrin bell push in amaranth was purchased by the Emperor and Empress in December of 1900 for 100 rubles, indicating that they may have liked the offered lot so much, they went back to buy another (cf. Opulence, p. 102).
