Description

Megalodon Shark Tooth
Otodus megalodon
Miocene
North Carolina, USA
3.44 x 2.47 x 0.72 inches (8.74 x 6.27 x 1.83 cm)

This impressive, fossilized tooth once belonged to Otodus megalodon, the largest predatory shark to have ever lived. Measuring nearly 3.45 inches (9 cm) in length, the specimen retains exceptional enamel preservation with a well-defined root and serrated edge faintly visible along the blade. The dark coloration reflects mineral replacement from burial in ancient marine sediments, lending a rich contrast to the tooth's natural sheen. A powerful reminder of oceanic prehistory, this fossil would make a bold addition to any collection.

[Scale: 2-inch Great White tooth]
