David Dike Fine Art, Dallas, October 30, 2021, lot 372;
Private collection, acquired from the above.
EXHIBITED:
Tyler Museum of Art, Tyler, Texas, "Ancel Nunn: Recent Work," July 14- August 18, 1974.
Ancel Nunn trained under Texas artist Alexander Hogue and Dong Kingman. Naturally, Nunn's style is routed in regionalism with surrealist elements. Often the artist plays with perspective and everyday objects to create interest and to draw the viewer in while evoking a stillness, snapshot effect. This playful and modernist approach reflects Ancel Nunn's nostalgic and powerful interpretation of life's paradoxes. The artist work is often a perfect blend of hyper-realism, surrealist perspective, and regionalist narrative scenes.
