This is an image staged after the Renoir painting and it is featured in the Abbeville Press book, Travels with Van Gogh and the Impressionists by Lin Arison and Neil Folberg.
Renoir made young Sunday revelers the subject of his painting set at the guinguette in Chatou on the River Seine. The photograph made by Neil Folberg is set in a contemporary mode as a Sunday gathering of friends and family in a home on the banks of the river, which references the painting by Renoir in the setting, composition and mood.
