This rare and exceptionally well-preserved fossil represents Chelotriton paradoxus, an extinct genus of salamander from the Miocene period. Displayed in its original fine-grained matrix, the specimen shows remarkable anatomical detail, offering insight into the morphology of ancient amphibians that once inhabited freshwater ecosystems of prehistoric Europe. The ancient salamander measures 8.25 inches (21 cm) in length. The fossil is centrally positioned on a rectangular slab of matrix, making it well-suited for both scientific study and display. Fossil salamanders of this quality and completeness are seldom available on the market, particularly from this region. An excellent acquisition for collectors of vertebrate paleontology or institutions focusing on Miocene fauna.
