This impressive Manus, or "finger" claw, is from a Spinosaurus and measures 3.75 inches (9.5 cm), even though it would be slightly longer on the curve. The claw core is extremely natural and rough with a tan to yellowish-orange coloration over its grainy surface. The slightly curved claw has the characteristic thin groove in the middle of each side and is nearly complete to the tip which is not perfectly sharp. The complete piece has a pronounced socket at the opposite end. There is likely some subtle, expert restoration of the claw. This type of fossil remnant is much rarer than the teeth, since there are so fewer of them in total, and claws are not regenerated, whereas teeth were broken off or shed and then replaced continuously. Given its size, this claw was likely from one of the rather stubby arms and from a sub-adult Spinosaurus.
