Description

Ametrine Falcon Carving on Stand
Artist: Luis Alberto Quispe Aparicio
Lima, Peru

A superb example of modern lapidary artistry, this elegant falcon sculpture has been masterfully carved from fine Bolivian Ametrine, a rare natural Quartz variety combining both golden Citrine and violet Amethyst within a single crystal. The artist has skillfully oriented the stone to reveal harmonious zones of color, producing a seamless blend of warm and cool tones across the bird's body. Weighing approximately 1,300 carats (261 grams), the falcon is further embellished with orange cabochon Spessartite Garnet eyes, their fiery brilliance lending a lifelike vitality. The feet, cast in Gold vermeil, provide an elegant contrast to the translucent gemstone body. The falcon rests upon a highly transparent Rock Crystal Quartz perch, crowned with a cluster of Amethyst crystals and finished with Gold vermeil borders. The entire composition is raised upon a stepped black Obsidian base, which enhances the sculpture's form and presence. Measuring over 11 inches (28 cm) in height, this piece unites rare materials, refined craftsmanship, and balanced design, embodying the grace and majesty of the falcon in gemstone form.
Overall Measurements: 11.25 x 5.25 x 5.25 inches (28.57 x 13.33 x 13.33 cm)
