Description

Blue Calcite Sphere
Madagascar

This impressive sphere is hand-carved from a single boulder of massive Blue Calcite, sourced from the renowned mineral deposits of Madagascar. While Calcite is typically found in white or colorless crystalline forms, the Madagascan variety is distinguished by its vivid sky-blue coloration and opaque, massive structure. Polished to a smooth, lustrous finish by local artisans, the sphere reveals soft, swirling bands and natural translucency that subtly shift under light-adding depth and serenity to its appearance. A captivating, decorative, and mineralogical piece, it embodies both geological beauty and fine craftsmanship. The large sphere weighs approximately 16.5 kilograms (36 pounds) and measures an incredible 8 inches (20 cm) in diameter.
Measurements: 8.00 inches (20.32 cm) in diameter

Provenance: Property of a Distinguished Southern California Collector
