NWA 15912 Chondrite Meteorite End Cut - Main Mass

This Main Mass of meteorite NWA 15912 weighs 323 grams, which is quite considerable given the total known weight of the fall in Niger found in 2019 was only 360 grams. Classified as an H5-melt breccia, this example of ordinary chondrite has a high Iron content and chondrites that have been metamorphosed, resulting in a most unique appearance. This "cornucopia-shaped" offering has a distinctive cut and polished surface, with highly contrasting dark blackish and golden-brownish hues with metallic speckles. Large chondrules are prominent over the smooth surface, which has quite a different nature than the partially fusion-crusted and visibly ruggedly mountainous exterior.
