This NEA 017 Meteorite end cut represents the Main Mass of the variety found in 2020 in Libya. A relatively uncommon, achondrite of the Diogenite group, out of the Howardite-Eucrite-Diogenite ("HED") clan, this meteorite is further classified as a polymict breccia. Weighing 232 grams, this specimen accounts for a very high percentage of the total known weight of a mere 275 grams for this fall. The consignor purchased this example directly from a Libyan dealer. From the Northeast - rather than the more typical Northwest - region of Africa, this extraterrestrial wonder consists of amazing duality with multiple cut 'window' faces showcasing glorious and varied chondrules on the smooth sides of this space rock. The rustic and curvaceous exterior boasts a single irregular strip of remnant fusion crust, offering a secondary contrast to the highly textural outside of this unique meteorite specimen. An odd combination of shape and composition makes this special.
