Description
Sericho Meteorite End CutPallasite
Kenya - (1°5'41.16"N, 39°6'8.30"E)
Found: 2016
A meteorite specimen that truly does have it all, this unbelievable collector grade end cut of the Sericho Meteorite was found in Kenya in 2016 and weighs a colossal 23.5 pounds (10.7 kilograms). This example stands perfectly, in vertical orientation, offers a spectacular polished face replete with incredible Olivine crystals and is visually impactful to the highest degree. The primary display surface is literally covered in crystals of gold and green Olivine consistent with the designation of the variety as a pallasite. The Space Rock also boasts an exterior with a mountainous and rugged texture. The piece has been fully coated to prevent degradation such that the specimen does exhibit a glossy appearance. The massive offering has been cut on an edge to provide a natural flat base, and the face exhibits the same Olivine crystallization, although the weight dispersion of the rock requires that it be further secured for display. Standing over 11 inches (28 cm) tall, the dramatic representation of the relatively "new" variety is intense. Its primary surface is flat, but not completely smooth, with numerous shallow depressions related to crystallization.
Overall Measurements: 11.22 x 6.69 x 3.94 inches (28.50 x 17.00 x 10.00 cm), weighs 10,65 kilograms (23.5 pounds)
[Scale: 1 inch, with mark at 1 cm]
