Description
FluoriteMinerva No. 1 Mine, Ozark-Mahoning group, Cave-In-Rock Mining Sub-District, Hardin County, Illinois, USA
17.9 x 14.2 x 7.3 cm (7.05 x 5.59 x 2.87 in)
This lot features a superbly formed specimen of large, intertwining Fluorite cubes with the largest crystal measuring a huge 12.9 centimeters across. The entirety of this sharply formed specimen has, towards the center of the faces, cubic aggregates that expose the yellow interior by traversing inward, past the rich purple zoning around the edges. All throughout the interior are crystals of Chalcopyrite and clusters of fluorescent hydrocarbons and Sphalerite. Under shortwave and longwave UV light, the hydrocarbons glow a bright yellow while the Sphalerite glows neon orange. For this specimen we had a custom base made, but this piece is equally as displayable from the top as it is from the front.
More Information: Specimen is in excellent condition; there are three small restorations on the corners.
