Coprolite is the scientific term for fossilized feces, and this rather sizable example, which has been cut and polished into a matching pair, is visually striking. The faces of each half have been polished to reveal unique and colorful patterns of the preserved material inside. Hues of muted red and taupe green dominate the finished surfaces of these two, relatively massive pieces, with the largest half measuring well over 9 inches (23 cm) at maximum dimension. In contrast to the smooth surfaces, the natural exteriors of both specimens are rugged, rocky, and highly textural. For any example of "Dinosaur Dung" - especially one that has been made into an 'irregular' matched pair - this is one exceptional offering for size and quality that represents 2.8 kilograms (6 pounds) of fossil manure.
