The play on words definitely holds again, as this is no ordinary Ordinary Chondrite. Weighing nearly 1.6 kilograms (4.0 pounds), this rocky mass representing the El Hassan Ould Hamed 002 Meteorite of the L4 classification is an amazing rustic example. Found in Mauritania in 2021, it is possible this was an observed fall, but that is not adequately documented yet. The most obvious and compelling characteristic of this rock is the pronounced dark fusion crust that covers much of the sizable form, while large patches of granular material are exposed where the burnt 'skin' does not cover the rock. While most definitely not a "study sample" in terms of the piece not being collectible, nor valuable, this collector representation is an ideal meteorite for visual, if not more intense, examination. This is big, bold, and rugged as well as standing as a finer example of a meteorite with superb fusion crust.
