Dioptase and Shattuckite are enticing enough species individually, but this particular piece captures the best of both species by presenting a glittering field of sharply-formed, slightly translucent Dioptase crystals (up to 1.0 centimeter) sprinkled across a Shattuckite matrix. Beyond their relative color contrast, the Dioptase and Shattuckite have a dichotomy in luster that beautifully complements one another. The hundreds of minor Shattuckite botryoides (on the top and underside of the specimen) have a velvety texture that accents the Dioptase's brightly flashing crystals.
