A rather sizable example of Dominican Amber, this polished wonder weighs a stout 22 grams and features a warm, golden-yellow coloration. Of course, it is the ideally preserved insect inclusions that make this one quite a collectible specimen. "Frozen" in time for the past 15 to 20 million years, such fossils are indeed exceptional. Some 10-winged ants, representing two different species, are suspended in the ancient diorama and readily visible with the naked eye inside the extremely clear piece. A few internal natural fractures can be seen, but the numerous inclusions are each singular in their individual appeal. At 2 inches (5 cm) in length, the beautiful example is relatively very large.
