This wonderful pairing of "positive" and "negative" Dinosaur footprints relates to an Anomoepus dating to the Early Jurassic. The three-toed prints both feature a pronounced middle digit. This highly aesthetic pair of the primary plant-eating variety found at the track sites is rarer than theropod tracks and was the first type to be discovered there, as eventually described by legendary paleontologist Edward Hitchcock. The dark impressions, likely enhanced to show contrast, are dark brown on mottled rock of lighter hues. It is notable that the South Hadley tracks were found only a few miles away from where the first footprints were discovered back in 1802.
