This outstanding Campo del Cielo offers numerous aesthetic attributes, including having "shrapnel-like" qualities with angular features, but it is the prominent rare and large hole that results in this being such an exceptional example. Of course, the meteorite weighing 578.3 grams also looks like a "Fighting Fish" as Geoff Notkin has so aptly named it. For many years, this piece was widely seen as the LEAD image on the Wikipedia entry for "Meteorite," further attesting to the superlative nature of this great Campo. The complex metallic mass will rest without the need for a base in the horizontal orientation, which displays the zoomorphic aspect. With the appearance of numerous fused sections, the gunmetal form has both significant size and extreme visual attributes-accents of red add further contrast to this fine meteorite.
