Description

Mosasaur and Fossil Fish
Mosasaurus halisaurus. Enchodus sp.
Late Cretaceous
Khouribga, Morocco

This immense and impactful fossil diorama consists of a pair of a mosasaur and a massive fossil fish in a mass mortality or possibly even a fight to the death. The mosasaur represents the halisaurus species, and the fish is of the Enchodus variety. The two specimens have an abundance of well-preserved skeletal remains and are both rather large examples. The bleached tan bones have a yellowish hue and serious disarticulation on the background. The "faux" matrix allows for the re-creation of a granular sand scene that would not have preserved such fossil remains. The enormous representation out of Morocco and dating to the Late Cretaceous comes ready for hanging, with a thick and solid wood frame outlining the prehistoric marine creatures from the ancient ocean and metal chains affixed to the back, allowing for secure installation on any suitable load-bearing wall. While not dinosaurs by technical definition, mosasaurs did live in the sea when the dinosaurs lived on the land, with numerous species of both being abundant in what is Morocco today tens of millions of years ago. This presentation provides a snapshot of life - or, rather, death - of a time back during the Mesozoic, containing numerous jaws, teeth, and vertebrae buried in the ocean floor.
Overall Measurements: 79.50 x 40.00 x 6.00 inches (201.93 x 101.60 x 15.24 cm)
