The present work is a figure study of character John Carter, The Warlord of Mars, published in the September 1982 issue of Heavy Metal magazine for Barsoom! or Tremble Not, My Naked Princess! or who was that Mighty Swordsman in the Leather Harness? by Richard A. Lupoff. Barsoom! is a fictional representation of the planet Mars first serialized as Under the Moons of Mars by Edgar Rice Burroughs The All-Story pulp magazine from February to July 1912. Burroughs work went on to be published as a novel as A Princess of Mars (A.C. McClurg & Co., 1917) a classic of 20th-century pulp fiction.
