A Colima Dog
West Mexico, c. 250 BC - 250 AD

Hollow earthenware with burnished red-brown slip and numerous black manganese deposits. The large tail is the spout of the vessel. Its heavy body supported on short legs, the head raised in an alert and friendly expression. In very good, intact condition aside from a repair to the proper right front leg.
