Proceeds from the sale of this lot will benefit the Dallas Lighthouse for the Blind.

Born in Vienna, Austria, Franz Strahalm studied in Hamburg, Germany. He eventually moved to Dallas and opened the "School of Fine Painting," a private art studio. In 1922, due to frequent misspellings and mispronunciations of "Strahalm" in the press, he changed his name to Frank Horst and painted under that name until 1923. Although most recognized for his landscape paintings, Franz Strahalm also painted portraits and still-lifes. The proceeds from the sale of this painting will directly benefit renovations for The Dallas Lighthouse for the Blind.
