A Jean Marie Phalibois Clock Automaton: Monkey Shooting a Target, 19th century
Inscription to plaque: Jean Marie Phalibois, 1835-1880, Paris
24-1/2 x 21-1/2 x 10 inches (62.2 x 54.6 x 25.4 cm) (overall)

Estimate: $5,000 - $7,000.

Condition Report*: The automaton clock in overall good condition, showing only light wear consistent with age, use, and display; when wound, the papier-mâché monkey raises its rifle, takes aim, and fires, causing a bouquet of flowers to rise behind the target, the base is fitted with controls to stop and start the mechanism, a keyhole for winding the automaton, and a pull string to operate the musical movement, accompanied by two keys: one for the automaton and another for the clock.
