Often mistaken for the more popular Quartz, Scapolite is pleasing in its own right with its soft limpid yellow color highlighted by hints of orange and brown. The large size and exquisite clarity of the cushion cut specimen, being offered here, would be a highlight in any collection of African gems and minerals. The rough that provided this gemstone was discovered in 1990 and cut by Ivan Roberts of Cape Town, South Africa.
