Peter Fillerup's Trail to Manhood is a monumental work created as a tribute to the transformative journey of a Boy Scout. With staff in hand and a forward gaze full of purpose, the figure captures a moment of youthful determination and quiet strength. The detailed uniform, complete with neckerchief and insignia, reflects both discipline and identity, while the Scout's posture conveys a deep sense of progress-a metaphor for the values of character, service, and perseverance that Scouting instills.

Fillerup, a Utah-based sculptor known for his public monuments and Western subjects, was drawn to themes of heritage and moral grounding. In Trail to Manhood, he embodies the Scout's personal evolution from boyhood to maturity in timeless, heroic form.

This cast was housed at the famed Philmont Scout Ranch in Cimarron, New Mexico-one of the most iconic and beloved destinations in the Scouting world. There, it stood not just as a work of art but as a symbol of aspiration for generations of Scouts embarking on their own trail to manhood.
