Description
QUARTZ GWINDELPuiva, Saranpaul, Khanty-Mansi Okrug, Tyumenskaya Oblast', Prepolar Ural, Western-Siberian Region, Russia
Looking very much like a Swiss Gwindel, this shining monument to the twisted habits of Quartz comes from several thousand miles to the east of Switzerland where Russian is the language of the locals. The helical form is identical to the Swiss ones and so is the brilliant luster and transparency. Even the smoky coloration shows the same warm sable brown tint with no hint of yellow or black. As a Gwindel, it is larger than most, and the numerous terminations on the sides establish that it is the "open" variety of Gwindel. It rises from a "matrix" also of Quartz crystals that allow it to be freestanding. There are some nicks to a few areas on the backside, and the junction between the "base" and the Gwindel was repaired. However, the repair is invisible, and the overall condition is excellent. See the 360 degree video of this specimen, which is available online.
Overall Measurements: 4.72 x 3.74 x 3.22 inches (12.0 x 9.5 x 8.2 cm)
Offered at no reserve.
Provenance: Collector's Edge [Hoppel #D0820]
