Description

Garnet (Almandine)
Madison County, North Carolina, USA
7.0 x 5.8 x 4.6 cm (2.76 x 2.28 x 1.81 in)

A very compact and aesthetic specimen that features two crystals of Almandine, the largest of which measures a respectable 3.8 x 3.6 centimeters and is perched at the top of a Quartz and Muscovite matrix. Both Almandine crystals have a sharp trapezohedral shape and a deep red hue that is heavily contrasted by the underlying Quartz. Most of the Muscovite crystals are transparent and have a strong vitreous luster, giving a glittery appearance to the right side of the specimen. The piece is in excellent condition with a contact on the reverse side and presents nicely on a custom acrylic base.
