Signed, titled, and dated in ink, and embossed with photographer's blindstamp, lower margin recto. Signed, titled, dated, and inscribed in pencil, and with Abe Frajndlich collection stamp, verso.
Bolton, Lancs (Worktown) refers to a seminal 1930s social research project by Mass-Observation, which treated the Lancashire cotton town of Bolton as an anthropological study site. Photographed extensively by Humphrey Spender, this work documented everyday life, leisure, and industry, often focusing on subjects like football spectators.
Condition Report*:
Overall excellent condition. Sheet illuminates under blacklight. Mild undulations to the side margins that do not appear to affect the image. Bumps to the corners. Sheet is loose, not framed.
