Gonzales' marine paintings are considered to be his finest and most desirable work. This is a particularly fine example of Gonazales' impressionist ship paintings and was exhibited at the Salmagundi Club in the 1921 Thumb Box Exhibition. The surface is rich with impasto and sparkles with color. The sun is low on the horizon, half obscured by a cloud, and the sky glows yellow, rose, and mauve.

The painting was given as a wedding present to the current owner's parents.
