Description
Group of 3 FossilsThis trio of fossils consists of an unrelated grouping but which makes for a nice starter collection. A fossil shark centrum, a very well-preserved echinoid and a pair of oreodont teeth in a section of jaw offered as a group and presented here. The offset, somewhat flattened shark vertebra comes from Kansas, a remnant of the great Western Interior Seaway of the Cretaceous. The gray echinoid is a treasure from Texas, with a classic "heart" shape characteristic of its Hemiaster identification dating to the Cretaceous as well. The mammalian dentition from The Badlands consists of brownish oreodont teeth in a tan, bony jaw section dating to the Oligocene deposits of Wyoming. The centrum and echinoid are much older than the teeth.
Overall Measurements: 2.58 x 2.25 x 0.59 inches (6.55 x 5.71 x 1.51 cm)
Donated by Hagar's Fossils & Minerals
Proceeds to benefit the AAPS
Echinoid Provenance: Gerhard G.H. Muehle Collection
