This is one of the earliest, if not the very earliest, Louis F. Dow paintings original to Gil Elvgren, without overpainting by Vaughan Bass.
This painting was reproduced as figure 157 in Gil Elvgren All His Glamorous American Pin-Ups by Charles G. Martignette and Louis K. Meisel, Taschen, 1999, and a printed example of this painting was also reproduced on page 27 of Gil Elvgren His Life and Art, by Max Allan Collins and Drake Elvgren, Collectors Press, 1998.

Condition Report*:
Slight buckling in upper right and lower left corner; stretcher crease visible; minor paint loss in lower right corner; small scattered dents from back of canvas along bottom edge; minor strenghtening in figures right hand; otherwise this lot is in good condition with only normal wear commensurate with age. Framed to an overall size of 34.5 x 28.5 in.
