Associated with meteoric impacts, Libyan Desert Glass is known as an "impactite" formed when the heat and pressure associated with a meteorite hitting the earth results in the transformation of desert sand into a natural glass. This complex specimen exhibits the characteristic yellowish-green coloration with an unusual surface full of crags and crevices. The opaque piece features an irregular shape with many sandy highlights and weighs 209 grams.
