Qin Feng, a leading voice in contemporary Chinese ink painting, emerged in the post-Cultural Revolution era. Qin helped redefine the boundaries of traditional ink art by integrating modern sensibilities and global influences into an ancient medium. Trained in both Eastern and Western artistic traditions at the Shandong Art Institute, his large-scale landscapes bridge past and present-merging the disciplined precision of calligraphy with the expressive energy of abstraction. Drawing inspiration from his upbringing in Xinjiang, a crossroads along the historic Silk Roads, Qin incorporates symbolic materials such as tea and coffee to represent the meeting of East and West. His landscapes, though rooted in classical forms, evoke both personal and cultural transformation, reflecting China's evolving identity and his enduring search for harmony across cultures.
