NOTE:
Mal Luber has noted that he made Ted Pillsbury's acquaintance "during the period of his association with the Yale Art Gallery." The artist recalls, "I was also acquainted with his sister, who belonged to the same tennis club as me. Not long after I met Ted, he commissioned me to do a portrait of each of his two children, after which he purchased my self-portrait. We lived not far from each other in New Haven."
