Description

Variscite, Crandallite & Wardite Slice
Little Green Monster Variscite Mine, Clay Canyon
Fairfield, Sunshine Mining District, Utah County
Utah, USA

Variscite, a rare Aluminum Phosphate mineral found in only a select few localities worldwide, holds a special allure for collectors due to its vivid coloration and relative scarcity. This exceptional specimen originates from the legendary Little Green Monster Mine in Utah-arguably the most celebrated source for the species. Now fully depleted, the mine's output has become increasingly coveted, with fine examples such as this appearing only when released from long-held private collections. This striking slab is defined by generous, richly saturated sections of bluish-green Variscite, framed by delicate, vein-like streaks of yellow Wardite and accented by whimsical, botryoidal "bull's-eye" formations of gray Wardite-a charming and rare feature that adds further visual intrigue. Both faces have been expertly polished to reveal the depth and complexity of the material, while the natural outer edges have been left intact, preserving a sense of geological authenticity. Either face could serve as the primary display side, each offering a different perspective on the specimen's intricate structure. Weighing 109 grams and with an exceptional percentage of the surface area covered by Variscite, this specimen ranks among the finest examples of its kind-a true prize for the discerning collector.
Measurements: 4.63 x 3.42 x 0.26 inches (11.76 x 8.69 x 0.65 cm)
