SphaleritePine Point, Northwest Territories, Canada
15 x 13 x 7 cm (5.91 x 5.12 x 2.76 in)
Here is a robust Sphalerite specimen from a Mississippi Valley Pb-Zn deposit that looks very similar to Tri-State material; however, it is from the obscure locality of Pine Point, Canada. This large double-sided piece is festooned with sharp tetrahedron (largest is 1.7 centimeters) of resinous dark brown Sphalerite crystals. The display face shows two nicely balanced main spherical clusters that sit side-by-side at the top of this heart shaped piece. The triangular faces of the Sphalerites have almost stepped growth with striations and exhibit a slight iridescence throughout. The opposite side has numerous intermixed earthy steel grey Galena cubes up to 1.4 centimeters with some showing skeletal growth.
From the collection of Daniel "Dan" R. Kennedy.
More Information: The piece is in great condition with some minor bruising.
