This is an excellent, cabinet-size specimen from the 19-01 pocket at the Detroit City Portal, Sweet Home Mine, Alma, Park County, Colorado, USA. The piece features a single, large 1.4-inch (3.6 cm wide) cherry-red, rhombohedral-shaped, Rhodochrosite crystal with a matte luster perched on a wonderfully contrasting black Tetrahedrite matrix. This is a high-quality example of the exciting new finds at the Detroit City Portal, which began specimen mining in 2018.
