This is simply a gorgeous meteorite, but it also has many superlative characteristics to go with its superb appearance. The recently classified CV3 Carbonaceous Chondrite represents NWA 13952 and weighs an immense 596 grams. The desert has removed its fusion crust, and the wind has polished the exterior, but Calcium Aluminum Inclusions (CAI's) mark the exterior and populate the interior. This blackish example features both a complex and highly textural surface as well as a rich, dark coloration. The bottom has been cut flat which allows the piece to stand on its own in an ideal vertical orientation and offers a glimpse into the core of the space rock which is solid. The exterior is delightfully pitted with light accents on a black background.
Measurements: 4.69 x 3.39 x 1.66 inches (11.91 x 8.60 x 4.22 cm), weighs 596 grams
