Fine Minerals
Quartz var. Amethyst & GemstoneJackson Crossroads Amethyst Mine (JXR Amethyst Mine)
Jacksons Crossroads, Wilkes Co.
Georgia, USA
This offering consists of a spectacular "rough and cut" pairing with both a superlative Amethyst cluster from the famous Jacksons Crossroads locality in Georgia, as well as one extremely large, and rather elegant, gemstone, weighing a substantial 18.35 carats. This very collectible mineral specimen features large and well-formed crystals of dark, rich, purple coloration highlighted by flashes of red resulting in one truly captivating example. The cluster of gemmy crystals bunch in a naturally artistic form exhibiting superb edges and broad faces that showcase the classic color of the popular mineral variety. Only very subtle minor damage is readily visible, and the variety of sizes among the interconnected crystals makes for a rather pleasing display piece. The round gemstone boasts vibrant faceting, exceptional clarity and immense depth. The "cut" member of this dynamic duo is really striking and serves as the ideal complement to the "rough" specimen which is accompanied by a custom engraved acrylic base to allow for a safe and secure display. Legendary mineral collector Paul Geffner noted this was considered the best piece to come out of the "8 Acres" section of the Jacksons Crossroads Amethyst Mine in Wilkes County, Georgia.
