Blue minerals are some of the most coveted among admirers and collectors, and it is easy to see why with this massive Celestine geode from Madagascar. This fine example features large, icy-blue, glassy, and lustrous prismatic crystals with good form. The "vug" is open in such a way as to expose the internal beauty within its dramatic cavernous arrangement. The crystals are readily visible and of significant size for the geodic variety. The largest crystal measures 1.57 inches (4 cm). Unlike many other examples that exhibit pale color, heavily damaged crystals, and an excess of volcanic matrix hiding the crystalline contents of the core, this specimen is superlative on all counts. Weighing a substantial 19 pounds (8.6 kilograms), this "big blue" is highly collectible and quite decorative.
