This massive specimen is an Azurite "vug" from Indonesia. Examples of this size are incredibly rare and represent a unique acquisition opportunity for a sizable decorative specimen with intense coloration and form. This "vug-shaped" example features a deep pocket lined with thousands of highly saturated azure blue botryoidal Azurite crystals with a vivid vitreous luster and scintillation. The matrix or outer "rind" consists of rust-colored Limonite, which surrounds the blue Azurite creating a visually impactful combination. Additionally, visible patches of bright green Malachite can be found around the colossal example with a spattering of blue and green crystals on the reverse side. This behemoth specimen measures nearly 17 inches (43.2 cm), weighs 58 pounds (26.4 kilograms), is in excellent condition, and will create a statement in any collection.
