Description
Petrified Woodworthia SlabWoodworthia
Triassic
Chinle Formation, Painted Desert Member
North of Winslow, Navajo County, Arizona, USA
The town of Winslow, Arizona, is not only notable for its mention in the song that launched the career of the Eagles or as the home of the Meteor Crater but also as a locality that produces compelling examples of Petrified Wood, like this bold slab of Woodworthia. Representing a more uncommon type of botanical fossil variety, this sizable offering measuring over 16 inches (41 cm) at maximum diameter offers an odd and mysterious blend of subtle hues, including taupe, pewter, beige, and graphite. This considerable slab boasts a group of cavities - some hollow, some secondarily filled in - as well as a few crystalline pockets and minty green accents. The mottled surface of this larger polished piece is dynamic but also soothing.
Measurements: 16.14 x 12.60 x 1.18 inches (41.00 x 32.00 x 3.00 cm)
