Description

Libyan Desert Glass & Koroit Opal Knife
Blade: Libyan Desert Glass Area
Great Sand Sea
Western Desert, Egypt
Handle: Koroit opal field
Paroo Shire, Queensland
Australia

This one-of-a-kind artisanal knife is simply incredible. The blade has been crafted out of rare and beautiful Libyan Desert Glass, an impactite that was created by a meteoritic impact on Earth. The glass blade has been knapped to a sharp cutting edge and displays excellent detail, a subtle yellowish green coloration with glass-like transparency, and measures 2.5 inches (6.35 cm) in length. The handle has been fashioned out of a section of coveted Koroit Opal from Australia. The hard ironstone matrix has veins filled with Opal with electric play-of-color. The top of the handle displays sections of vivid green, purple, and blue flashes. The banded hardstone has a rich brown coloration and is ergonomically crafted for ease of use. The blade and the handle have been affixed together by a natural brown chording which has been sealed. This is a unique offering that combines two coveted Natural History items. The artist's initials, "KJ," have been inscribed on the bottom of the handle.
Measurements: 5.51 x 1.18 x 0.51 inches (14.00 x 3.00 x 1.29 cm)
