Description
Bookends
Petrified Seed Fern BookendsPentoxylon sp.
Jurassic
Cober Paddock
Miles, Queensland, Australia
This utilitarian offering consists of Petrified Wood bookends, representing rare and ancient Australian flora. Crafted from extinct seed fern trees that once covered vast portions of Queensland, they feature rich, earthy orange, brown, red, and yellow hues. Polished surfaces reveal rippling growth rings, which dominate the main display faces of this functional fossilized pair, as the variety is known to boast highly detailed cellular structures. The significant set has been expertly cut, polished, and finished with black felt on the sides and bottom for ease of use. Remnant 'bark' is still evident on the sides, adding a textural effect to this dynamic duo. Each half measures nearly 9 inches (22.8 cm) in height and 5 (12.7 cm) inches wide. This remarkable set of two can be displayed either vertically or horizontally, making it a perfect gift for any avid reader - blending natural history with functional elegance.
One Half Measurements: 8.78 x 5.12 x 2.36 inches (22.30 x 13.00 x 6.00 cm)
