This dynamic Tiger's-Eye sphere, originating from the mineral-rich region of South Africa, presents unparalleled display qualities. The nearly 4.5-inch (11 cm) sphere showcases the diagnostic Ironstone banding and characteristic golden chatoyancy for which the material is known. Believed to date back to the Precambrian Era, approximately 4.6 billion years ago, this material was mined and masterfully crafted into a smooth, spherical shape, showcasing the mineral's inherent chatoyant luster, thick, intricate banding, and dynamic color palette. The banding pattern is quite striking, as it is 'bookended' by two large sections of earthy orangish-brown circular Ironstone, with overall alternating bands of gray metallic Hematite giving the sphere movement. This decorative orb is dense, in good condition, and truly captivating.
